At the latitude of 18° south, “El Fuerte" farm sits at the edge of a pristine national park. Aptly named after the pre-Colombian archaeological site nearby, this area was first chosen for wine production by the Spanish in the early 1600’s. Samaipata (rest in the heights) is a small town at the base of the Bolivian Andes, located about 120km outside of Santa Cruz. The farm at El Fuerte was the experimental first of 4 farms that the Rodriguez family started in the region.
