    At El Platanillo, different varietals are regularly studied to determine which will adapt best to the ecosystem. This full-bodied coffee is round and smooth, with a touch of bitterness on the finish. Currently, research is also being done on organic lots, with the goal of becoming a 100% organic coffee farm.

    El Platanillo is a farm dedicated to conserving and protecting the natural ecosystem through sustainable practices. Prohibition of hunting and the controlled felling of trees are two examples of practices that have been implemented at El Platanillo. Washing stations were built as an alternative to rivers for coffee production, reducing waste water on the farm. Other projects include supplying water to the surrounding community and the construction of a local school, offering a specialized coffee education program for highschool students.
